Customer Story: Brian Lee and the Sea Cliff Door

“To sacrifice quality, is to deprive future generations of our craft.” This phrase spans the top of Brian Lee’s website, MendocinoDoors.com, and is a true testament to the mission of his company.

Lee uses old-growth redwood to sculpt his doors. It’s wood of exceptional quality from trees 500-1000 years old. These beauties were left on the forest floor amidst over-logging. But because of redwoods’ exceptional resistance to decay, these specimens are not only usable, they still have no peers in terms of quality.

And then from that wood? Well, take a look for yourself:

Because Lee’s doors are these amazing pieces of functional art, we were flattered to find out one of his recent creations, The Sea Cliff Entrance Door, was fitted with a Knob Deco door pull. We think each of our pieces of cabinet hardware is a work of art. And look what they do for Brian’s beautiful creation!

Brian calls this “cloud redwood.” Because our door pull has no visible means of attachment, it only enhances the striking material. What a lucky door handle!

As beautiful as these and all of Lee’s creations are, he also keeps his manufacturing process as green as possible. All of that amazing redwood is salvaged from sustainably harvested forests. And Lee keeps his customer in mind just as much as his products. He jumps at the chance to do custom orders and takes every chance to keep the customer involved in the design process. You won’t find more carefully hand created doors, or a craftsman more in love with its product.

We’re lucky to provide cabinet hardware to such a talented customer base. And we love knowing where our products end-up. If you are a KnobDeco customer and want to show-off what you’ve done with our products, we’d love to hear from you at customerservice@knobdeco.com!
